AboutTim, Trudi, and Clint Adams are the founders of Red Baron Car Wash. Trudi is a hairdresser in Lubbock and Clint works for the City of Lubbock.
Originating from Dodge City, Kansas, Tim and Trudi have been in
the Lubbock area for 26 years. Tim has worked for the family roof
equipment manufacturing business for 28 years.
The Adams lived in Spur for 8 years during
the late 80's and early 90's where Tim opened his first of 3 karate schools,
Our first car wash was a small 2-bay self serve we built in Crosbyton in 1997 called Mirage Carwash. We learned a lot about the car wash business from that first experience - some of it what not to do.
Red Baron Car Wash was built in Idalou in 2005 in the belief that if we offered all the features and state of the art equipment found at big city car washes, smaller town citizens would use our car wash.
Why Red Baron? Tim grew up flying around SW Kansas with his dad, who was a pilot. Tim spent countless hours on the roof of their barn watching contrails overhead, wondering about all the exciting places the airplanes might be going. In 1985 Tim received his Private Pilot certificate after training mostly at Town & Country Airpark south of Lubbock, Lubbock International Airport (now Lubbock Preston Smith Airport), and Slaton Airport. Injuries from a car accident in 1994 cost Tim his required 3rd Class Medical, so he took up flying ultralight aircraft which have relaxed medical restrictions. Below are photos of a couple of them.
Red Baron Car Wash was a way to couple Tim's interest in aviation with a business he enjoys. Tim says "I couldn't think of a way for me to make a living in aviation, so the Red Baron Car Wash concept was a good way for me to be around aviation while working."
